What I do each day:

I check in with my team. I want to check the heartbeat of the hotel as soon as I walk in the door. From there I’ll check email, accounts payable, and see how our service scores are progressing. Then we’ll huddle up – the entire team on property will meet and we’ll go over the day’s agenda and take a little time to have some fun (I may or may not have taken a water balloon to the chest last week!). Throughout the day I will lend a hand at the front desk and answer a few calls–I love the opportunity to stay “close” to the guest staying with us. Throw in a meeting or two and the day is coming to a close and we have guests checking in or returning to the hotel. I take the opportunity to make myself available to our guests, joke around with them so they can share in the lighthearted environment we’ve tried to cultivate at the hotel, and simply answer some questions only a local would know. No day ever looks the same, and this is one thing I truly love about my job.

What I like best about my job:

Aside from the variety of hats I get to wear day to day, I absolutely love the team around me and the guests we serve. I believe everyone in our hotel shows hospitality in their own unique way, and it’s inspiring to see my team use their talent so brilliantly.

How does NCG and your hotel get involved in the community?

My hotel, and NCG in general, partners with the Ronald McDonald house to provide overflow housing to families in need. It’s a blessing to have the opportunity to provide such a basic yet essential service to those in need. NCG also gives every single team member time away from work to volunteer at an organization of their choosing. My team has used this time to volunteer at churches, road side waste collections, and humane societies. It’s so cool to work for a company that understands everyone has their own passions, and encourages their employees to actively serve in their communities!

As the Assistant General Manager, with a Dual Campus General Manager, I am responsible for the oversight of the day to day operations of the hotel.  From housekeeping to building and grounds, F&B and front desk, I am here to help, answer questions, coach, and lead the team.  I also evaluate our scores and rankings in regards to our service and the financials. I help to develop strategies to continue to increase our successes.

What I do each day:

The first thing I do in the morning is greet the team members working, as well as the guests in the breakfast area.  I like to be hands on and help out where needed.  Throughout the day I am available for questions that come up for all departments, both front and back of house.  Then I find time for the administrative tasks; placing orders, taking inventory, and billing.

What I like best about my job:

My favorite thing about my role is the variety that comes each day.  The demand of the hotel will dictate what the day will look like overall, but there is no telling what adventures may come up along the way.  No two days are the same.  There is opportunity for as much or as little variety as you would like.

I chose NCG as an employer because of the warm welcome I received right away.  The presentation of the company and hotel itself made me want to be a part of that team.  There are several NCG properties in the Madison area that I saw it as an opportunity for the future.  I started as a Guest Service Representative, but saw the room for growth and development.  Over the years they have provided me with just that!

As Marketing Coordinator for North Central Group, I wear many hats. My days are filled with creating fun and effective marketing pieces, performing eCommerce duties, posting what the company is up to on social media and helping with the recruitment of millennials .  The most entertaining part of my job are the “other job duties as assigned”. I love receiving a new project that allows me to get creative and explore innovative ways to get the task done.

What I do each day:

In the hospitality industry an average day, does not exist. The only constant thing that I do every day is fill my water bottle right away in the morning. My days range from creating marketing flyers for sales managers or hotels, posting on one of our social media platforms or helping with different projects that our company is working on.

What I like best about my job:

I can honestly and whole heartedly say that I LIKE my whole job best. There is not a day were I dread going into the office. The relationships that I have built and the opportunities I have been given make my job a perfect fit for me.

How does NCG and your hotel get involved in the community:

The Corporate office gets involved with the community by  participating in United Way. As you can see in my video, I talked about jeans week. We also do bake sales and potlucks in our office to raise money. We also set aside a day to go onsite and work with Habitat for Humanity and we are given the opportunity to take a paid full day and volunteer for an organization of our choice!

What I do each day:

You’ll quickly find out that the word ‘average’ doesn’t exist in hotels nor at NCG.  Each day brings a new challenge, a new opportunity, a new chance to make an impact.

What I like best about my job:

Best part about my job is that every day is different and I get to do what I do best each day. I’m surrounded by team members that want to be exceptional hotel operators….and we also spend too much time planning the next practical joke on our fellow team members.

How does NCG and your hotel get involved in the community?

At our Northern Phoenix properties we support an organization called “Teen Challenge” their focus is on getting troubled young men back on track and reengaged in a productive social and professional setting.

As a Sales Manager I promote and represent the hotel at community events and hospitality networking events. Identify strategies to increase revenue.  Meet weekly sales call activity goals. Negotiate terms and conditions with clients along with producing and presenting contracts to them. Track all proactive, self-initiated, daily contact to potential clients via in-person visits, telephone calls, and emails. Lastly, have fun!

What I do each day:

Every day is different. One day I may be out and about visiting clients. The next day I could be at a vendor fair. While the next day I could be talking with clients on the phone, booking business and prospecting new accounts.

What I like best about my job:

All of the relationships I’ve made with my coworkers and clients. It’s so much fun getting to know so many different people and creating work relationships as well as friendships.  I also love that every day is different.

What I do each day:

For me, each day I am learning something about my job, my coworkers and our guests. I put 100% of my effort towards my job. With being full time, I have the opportunity to learn something new everyday, this position also lets me share my knowledge with our team.

What I like best about my job:

The best thing about my job is that every month our hotel recognizes every employee for what we do. NCG makes work fun, we have potluck meals when it is someone’s birthday, the opportunity to win gift cards and we celebrate International Housekeeping Week each September.

How does NCG and your hotel get involved in the community?

NCG does lots of things for our community, as I am Hispanic and my first language e is Spanish. They are offering free English classes for all employees who have it as a second language. Not all companies are willing to invest schooling into their employees at no cost to them.
