Safety & Clean Initiatives

We take great pride in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene. Given the effects of COVID-19, we have taken additional measures in our hotels today, developed in consultation with global and local public health authorities (including the WHO and CDC), to make our cleaning and hygiene protocols even more rigorous:


  • Our hotel teams are receiving ongoing briefings on enhanced cleanliness & safety operating protocol
  • We have increased the frequency of cleaning our public areas (including lobbies, elevators, door handles, public bathrooms, etc.) and have continued the use of hospital-grade disinfectant
  • We will continue to adjust food and beverage service and amenity closures in accordance with current recommendations from state and local authorities
  • We have increased the deployment of hand sanitizers throughout the hotels
  • We have social distancing measures in place at our hotels
  • Enhanced Team Member safety and well-being with personal protective equipment (masks and gloves) and enhanced training and protocols
  • We have partitions at front desks to provide an extra level of precaution for our guests and Team Members
  • All hotels continue to stay up to date on all local and state guidelines put in place

Hilton Hotels

Our Hilton hotels are implementing the Hilton CleanStay with Lysol Protection program. This will introduce a new standard of hotel cleanliness and disinfection to ensure Hilton guests enjoy an even cleaner and safer stay. Hilton CleanStay builds upon Hilton’s already high standards of housekeeping and hygiene, where hospital-grade cleaning products and upgraded protocols are currently in use. The program features Lysol’s trusted cleaning products, solutions and training.

The program will include:

  • Hilton CleanStay Room Seal to indicate that guest rooms haven’t been accessed since they were cleaned
  • Extra disinfection of top 10 high touch areas in guest rooms including light switches and door handles
  • Increased cleaning frequency of public areas
  • Guest-accessible disinfecting wipes at entrances and high traffic areas
  • Enhanced cleaning for fitness centers
  • Reduced paper amenities (like notepads and guest directories) in rooms
  • Enhanced cleaning & other changes to buffets, in-room dining and meeting spaces
  • Industry-leading contactless check-in and check-out with Digital Key at more than 4,700 properties globally
  • Evaluation of new technologies like electrostatic sprayers with disinfecting mist and ultraviolet light to sanitize surfaces and objects
  • Enhanced Team Member safety and well-being with personal protective equipment (masks and gloves) and enhanced training and protocols

Marriott Hotels

Our Marriott properties are in the process of finalizing the appropriate technologies to further protect guests and Team Members from COVID-19. Below are a few of the changes you will see at our Marriott properties. For more information on Marriott’s Commitment to Clean, please visit

  • Public Spaces and High-Traffic Areas
    • We are cleaning surfaces with increased frequency, dedicated staff, and recommended cleaning agents. All Team Members are required to wear masks.
  • Guest Rooms
    • We have elevated our rigorous protocols to thoroughly clean all surfaces with hospital-grade disinfectants. And we will be placing disinfecting wipes in each room for your use.
  • Hand Sanitizer
    • Hand sanitizing stations are being installed at hotel entrances, at our front desks, our elevator banks, and meeting spaces.
  • Social Distancing
    • Signage in public spaces will remind our guests to maintain social distancing. We will be adding partitions at check-in to provide an extra level of precaution for our guests and our Team Members.
  • New Cleaning Technologies
    • We are rolling out enhanced technologies including electrostatic sprayers to sanitize surfaces throughout the hotel. We are also testing ultraviolet light technology for sanitizing guest keys and devices shared by associates.
  • Mobile App
    • At some of our Marriott hotels, your phone can be used to check in, access your room, and order room service.
